Stress Fractures (Pediatric)

Introduction

Stress Fractures can occur in almost any bone in the lower extremities.  A history of atraumatic pain that greatly worsens with activities strongly indicates a stress fracture.  X-rays may show the body's attempt to heal the stress fracture, but sometimes advanced imaging such as a bone scan, CT, or MRI are necessary to make the diagnosis.
