Scoliosis is spinal curvature that can affect any age, but is most common in adolescent girls.  X-rays will determine the nature of the curve (congenital or idiopathic) and the magnitude of the scoliosis.  The age of the patient and X-ray findings dictate the course of treatment.  Sometimes observation is indicated, other times a brace may be recommended.  Surgery is reserved for severe spinal curvature.
