Partial Knee Replacement

Introduction

Partial knee replacement surgery, also known as partial knee resurfacing, is an alternative to total knee replacement. It is utilized when degenerative disease is limited to just one area of the knee; meaning only that portion of the knee needs to be resurfaced. The surgery is performed through a smaller incision, allowing patients to spend less time in the hospital and return to normal activities sooner after surgery.

Partial knee replacement is preferable to total replacement whenever possible because it preserves healthy tissue and bone and allows for better range of motion and faster return to activity.
