Bone Cysts

  • Introduction

Bone Cysts develop for unknown reasons.  There are two types: Unicameral and Aneurysmal.  Radiographs can usually determine the diagnosis, but sometimes advanced imaging studies such as an MRI are necessary to characterize the lesion.  They can expand and weaken the bone, leading to pain and/or fractures.  Surgery may be necessary to eradicate the bone cyst.
